What it is

The successor to the Geran-3, with a new reinforced airframe that, as described by Defense Express, can withstand aggressive manoeuvres at 300–400 km/h. The same Chinese TF-TJ2000A engine is also fitted to the Geran-5.

Speed comes at the cost of range: up to 450 km, compared with 1,800–2,500 km (depending on the estimate) for the propeller-driven Shahed.

It covers up to 8 km a minute. Between two spotter reports it can cross several districts. Do not wait for the marker to get closer.

What to do

  1. 1When you hear the “Air raid alert!” signal, go to the nearest shelter at once. Find out in advance where it is near your home and work.
  2. 2If you cannot reach a shelter, move to a room without windows and follow the “two walls” rule.
  3. 3Agree with your family on what to do and where to meet if the phone network or the power goes down.
