What it is
A small cruise missile made by Russia's Kronshtadt group, the developer of the Orion strike drones. HUR lists it in its catalogue as the S8000 missile. Spotters, though, often call it a “jet Shahed” or a “jet drone”, so on our map it is filed under jet-powered drones.
The key thing to know: the Banderol flies three times faster than an ordinary Shahed and carries a heavier warhead. It is launched from aircraft and, according to Defense Express, probably from ground launchers as well.
What it means for you
It covers tens of kilometres between two spotter reports, so the marker on the map is always behind the real target. If a Banderol is reported heading your way, go to a shelter at once.

What to do
- 1When you hear the “Air raid alert!” signal, go to the nearest shelter at once. Find out in advance where it is near your home and work.
- 2If you cannot reach a shelter, move to a room without windows and follow the “two walls” rule.
- 3Agree with your family on what to do and where to meet if the phone network or the power goes down.
A marker on our map may appear late or not at all. Go by the siren, not by the map.
